Brooklyn Nets: 66-1
The Brooklyn Nets lost figures this summer, since they watched Jason Kidd bypass town for Paul and Milwaukee Pierce join the Washington Wizards. Those reductions will change the makeup maybe not, although significantly of Brooklyn for the worse. Kidd is replaced by lionel Hollins, and his seven seasons of head coaching experience should mesh with the Nets’ veteran roster. At exactly the exact same time, Beckley Mason, at a piece for ESPN.com, raised some interesting questions regarding the reputation Hollins built with the Memphis Grizzlies.
“Is what Tony Allen does something that you can coach?” he asked. “Is how Marc Gasol moves 7’0″ and 260 lbs to stymie a point protector something anyone can learn?”
We’re going to find out.
We find out whether Pierce’s generation can be replicated by rookie import Bojan Bogdanovic . And we find out if Mason Plumlee’s time with Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup will result in some large sophomore campaign Brook Lopez must conquer still another setback with his surgically repaired foot, and Kevin Garnett has to prove he’s got enough juice left to contribute over a couple of minutes per game. But with Joe Johnson and Deron Williams in Jarrett Jack and the backcourt substituting Shaun Livingston off the seat, Brooklyn stays a savvy squad with a fair amount of talent if most of it is nearing its expiry date.
The playoffs are a sensible target for the Nets, and a seed isn’t out of the question in the event the 30-year-old Williams can remain healthy along with Lopez.
